Hello Kitty
was introduced by Sanrio
Co of Tokyo in 1974 and has become a world-wide phenomenom since
that time. The Hello Kitty main character lives in London, England,
and she enjoys a whole family of Kitty characters, including a twin
sister Mimmy.Her family is the White family. Her father is an architect
and her mom is a housewife.
Besides appearing
in a wide-range of products, including TV shows, Hello Kitty even
has her own theme park, Sanrio's Puroland,
located in Tamo New Town near Tokyo.
Highlights -
- In 1981,
the first Hello Kitty movie was made. It was called "Kitty and
Mimmy's New Umbrella."
- In 1991,
a line of baby products was developed.
- In 2001,
Sanrio designers introduced some new variations: goth Kitty, punk
